Monkton End is a compact Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway might have been branch terminus which was mooted during the “Railway Mania”. The route was proposed to leave the main line at Midford to serve the Camerton coal-field, it was approved, but never built.
The original layout was constructed by the late Terry Radford and was upgraded by Mike Potter with an extra board for an enlarged Goods yard. Normally the layout uses a cassette based fiddle yard, but a sector plate can be used when operated by a single person.
The layout is now under the custodianship of the Cornwall O Gauge Group who will be exhibitiong the layout at some local model railway shows.
